One day something changed. Some catastrophic, awesome event forked and wound the pathway of your life permanently, catching the eye of a god in the process. You are a Gifted of the Watchman, the god of stories.  Stories are action, and action is motion, and its gifts are naturally of such domains. You may do with this power as you wish: seek vengeance, find a payday, atone for your sins; so long as it is interesting.

Footfall is a stealth-action rpg inspired by the movement based, interactive gameplay of immersive sims, set in the middle of a sweeping industrial revolution. The mechanical and the occult are swirling together in a storm of chaotic tension as revolts and unrest rise from the breeding grounds of poverty.

This free playtest is in a completely playable state, with all necessary rules present. It excels with tense and bombastic heists, players feel powerful but combat is dangerous. Player creativity is pushed to the forefront, with multiple possible ways to solve any given problem.

If you like Dishonored, Assassin's Creed, or Gloomwood, you will like Footfall. If you want environment based stealth gameplay, you will like Footfall.

Content Warning

Footfall can deal with some pretty heavy themes, including but not limited to:

• Body horror
• Cosmic horror
• Gothic horror
• The struggle for survival under industrial capitalism
• Imperialism, slavery, and eugenics 
• Violence and murder 
• Religious discrimination and inquisitorial practices

If you or another member of your group are not comfortable with any of these themes, it's pertinent that you bring this up.

Why Is This All Free?

Put simply, I want as much early feedback as I can get. This game is my baby, and I'll kick myself forever if I don't get it right. Please, if you read or play Footfall give me a comment or shoot me an email; all feedback is appreciated.

This is also, technically, an opportunity to scout for publishers. If somebody wants to publish and market my game, well boy howdy I just might let them (almost entirely due to the fact that money is necessary for my continued survival).

Is The Game Done?

No. A lot of the rules text, formatting, and editing is subject to change. Additions will be made, options will be buffed and nerfed, and new chapters will be added as time goes on (particularly those for the Watchman). That being said, the game is FULLY PLAYABLE. I've run quite a few games at this point, and they've all been a blast.
